Unit of measure - Roll (MOQ): 1 Roll – 3.0 MIL thick x 1" width x 72 yard long
Description: Flash tape is the most common tape used among the composites industry. This blue-colored tape is a general-purpose high temperature (400 Deg. F.), high tensile strength polyester film that is coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive. Flash tape is most commonly used in the vacuum bagging process; this is due to the fact that this tape can withstand temperature up to 400 degrees without melting. It is resistant to most resins and common chemicals found in the composites shop. Along with masking off areas and protection against resin bleed out this tape works well as a general purpose tape in many areas of composite fabrication because it does not tear easily and can be removed with little effort after the Composite fabrication process is completed.
Application: Flash tape is to be used in any occasion when masking is necessary, especially where residue cannot be tolerated. Generally, this tape is used for holding release films and fabrics. Other uses will include holding down vacuum bagging materials and TC wires. This material may also be used for holding materials together in the oven or in a chemical milling process. It is recommended to use a heavy tape dispenser (see part# SSMTD-1). This tape dispenser will save time, and material.
