Description: Core Splice is an extrudable foaming adhesive used for splicing honeycomb core edges and core fill. This material is designed to expand 2-3 times its original size. The purpose of core splice/foaming is to bond two pieces of honeycomb together while not compromising structural integrity. Core splice also works great at keeping water or moisture out of the honeycomb cells.
Application: To start the application process, you must first allow the material to reach 75 degrees F. Be sure the parts to be bonded have been thoroughly cleaned and dried. Choose the appropriate nozzle for your application, or dispense directly from the tube itself. Apply to the honeycomb core edges or fill cells. The panel can be cured in a press, vacuum bag in an oven, or an autoclave. The vacuum bagging process is required for this material. Cure time is 77 minutes at 250 or 350 degrees F with a heat up rate of 3.8 Degrees F per minute for 250 degree curing, and 9 degrees F rise for 350 degree F cures. Uncured material can be easily removed with a solvent such as MEK or Acetone.
