Long Description: HCC3LB1IN is a Nomex Honeycomb that is normally used to produce products that are in the higher density range. Nomex Honeycomb is a paper-like material that is layered and bonded together with a thermosetting adhesive and then coated with a resin system. This honeycomb is used predominantly in the aerospace industry but may also be used in the automotive, marine or recreational purposes.

 

Application: To start the application process of a honeycomb fabrication, you must first clean the sheet. Take care to remove any debris or contaminates. When using shop air to blow off the honeycomb sheet you need to confirm that the shop air is dry and free of oils. Otherwise you will experience disbond later in the process. After cleaning you may now cut into the shape that is needed (sanding may be needed for finer dimensions). A band saw with a fine tooth blade works well for general dimensions. Once the Honeycomb is cut into the desired dimensions you must do a final clean. If you use any solvents take time to thoroughly dry the Honeycomb prior to layup. Start by applying the piece to your part. The use of film adhesive and foaming adhesive may be used depending on your fabrication process.
